HERMA has introduced a new tamper-evident self-adhesive material designed specifically for demanding transport packaging applications. The new HERMAvoid checkerboard (type 935) targets security labeling on rough cardboard substrates commonly used across e-commerce and logistics supply chains.

The silver-metallized PET material features a concealed checkerboard pattern on the reverse side that becomes permanently visible when a label is removed. This makes tampering immediately detectable and prevents label reuse—an increasingly important requirement as high-value goods pass through multiple handling points during shipment.

HERMAvoid checkerboard is paired with the company’s 63B adhesive, known for its aggressive bonding performance on critical surfaces such as rough corrugated board. The adhesive also offers strong water resistance and reliable adhesion on cool and damp surfaces, supporting use in varied warehouse and transport environments.

According to market research cited by Herma, global demand for security labels is expected to grow approximately 7% annually, driven largely by continued expansion in e-commerce. Herma positions the new material as a solution for converters and brand owners seeking improved product protection throughout the supply chain.

“It offers label printers the opportunity to participate in an extremely attractive, steadily growing market,” said Hendrik Kehl, product manager at Herma. “At the same time, label users receive an efficient and cost-effective solution for protecting products, brands and property along supply chains.”

From a production standpoint, HERMAvoid checkerboard is compatible with conventional printing technologies, including UV flexo, letterpress, and screen printing. The checkerboard security pattern can also be customized with brand-specific graphics, lettering, or logos upon request.
